The Other Side of the Story

Different people with different lives accidentally meet each other and eventually try their luck being together. Within the bracket of their love story, there are challenges that causes two different things, it’s either, it will make them stronger or it will lead them to wreckage. 

            Miguel and Anna met each other during their early college days. They came from two different roads until their ways intertwined to give way to a sweet and young love story that is about to happen and eventually change their lives forever. Fate moved them towards a scenario that they have least expected; within it are struggles and obstacles which can’t be noticed from the start because of the glaring brightness of the sweet and young love.

            Miguel is a typical local kid that has lots of dreams to fulfill. Just like any other guys of his age, he use to play computer games and read a lot about computers (history of computers and programming languages).Aside from these, he also plays guitar and sings as his hobby. He dreams to be an IT specialist someday that is why he decided to take up Bachelor of Science in Information and Technology in a reputable College on Technology matters which is STI (STI TANAY).

            On the other side, Anna is a brat and always wants to get what she wants. Unlike Miguel, she is not reading books nor feeding her brain most of the time. She is a happy go lucky person. She always goes shopping instead. Frequently, she goes out with her friends, not thinking about how much money she would spend by just going out for senseless things that is tantamount to her artificial happiness. After graduating from high school, she still doesn’t know what course to take up. Randomly, she chose a course which the title is good to hear. Fortunately, that course is the course that Miguel will also take up. She decided to enroll in school which is near; she enrolled in STI Tanay too where Miguel is also enrolled.

            On the first day of the 1^st semester, it is a brand new day and brand new environment for the two of them. Miguel told himself to be more focused on his studies to successfully pass the course to be an IT specialist and
to land a decent job but Anna expects nothing more than meeting new friends in her new school…

=First Scenario=:

            Miguel (wearing reading glass with a decently gelled hair and a decent polo shirt) walks along the lobby and find the bulletin board where he can see his class schedules while Anna (wearing a dress that defines slightly “kikay”) saw some old friends and chat along with them in the midst of a busy atmosphere in school.

           

            Miguel: (Told himself) It’s my first day towards my dreams (because he takes this one seriously) I’m so excited.(walking towards the bulletin board).

While Miguel is there…

Anna: (Smiling and Jolly) ohhh, hello guys, I’m surprised that you’re also here.

It’s so nice to see you. What’s your course?

            1 of the friends: I’m taking up BSIT.

            Anna: Oh, we’re on the same boat. (Laughing)

            1 of the friends: (quite surprised) really? What is your section?

Anna: wait, Ill check it on my assessment form.(finding assessment form for a matter seconds). I’m … I’m 113.

            1 of the friends: So we’re classmates. (laughing)

            Anna: really? (happy to what she heard) come on, let’s look for our schedules on

           the board.

1 of the friends: let’s go..

After Miguel see his class schedules, Anna and his friends is just next to him…

Miguel goes out and finds his room…

=End of the first scenario=

            =the next scenario will be inside the classroom=

           

            Miguel found his room. He is now waiting for the instructor. While waiting, some classmates talked to him and became his new friends. One of them is Pao.

            Classmate/s: Hi dude, how are you doing? Where are you from?

            Miguel: I’m actually resides just near here.

            Classmate/s: ah, What’s your course?

            Miguel: I’m taking up BSIT, I want to be a programmer.

            Classmate/s: hehe,,, So was I. I’m also taking up BSIT just like Pao.

            Pao: hehe, It’s my dream to become a programmer someday… (This line is said

        like a joke).(laughing)

Anna and her friends entered the same room where Miguel is in. They immediately saw the group of guys talking with each other. Anna saw Miguel. She stared at him for a couple of seconds until her friends noticed what she does. One of them tap her shoulder and said….

Friend: Hey Anna. Do you know him?

Anna: no, hehe,,, not yet.

Friend: not yet? You mean you want to know him?  (Laughing like teasing)

Anna: hehe… Maybe..(Laughing)

Friends: (teasing Anna)

The group of Miguel heard a little of what Anna’s group was talking but they just heard it unclearly so they didn’t mind it.(Miguel’s group portrays talking while slightly looking to the Group of Anna) Until Instructor entered the Classroom.

Instructor: Good Morning Class, I will be your Communication Arts

instructor for the whole sem. Before anything else, I would like to introduce myself unto you first. I’m Mr. Cabrera a graduate of Bachelor of science in Mass Communication at UP Diliman. I’m “ “ years old. (The students laugh after the instructor say this line) and please take note. I’m still single and very much available. (laugh a bit) Just kidding. Now that I’m done introducing myself, it’s your turn now. Please Introduce yourself in front.  Any volunteer? Who would like to go first?

Anna: Sir! May I?

Instructor: Sure Miss. Stand up and introduce yourself in front.

Anna: I’m Anna Solestina, 16 years old, my friends call me Anna, I finished my

High school in San Ildefonso College. I’m interested in meeting new friends since I’m still new here…

Instructor: Thanks a lot Ms. Solestina. Ok, who would like to go next? (No one raises hand)

            Anybody? Nobody? Ok, I will call somebody.

(The instructor saw Miguel sitting beside the window, starring to a very far nothing)

Instructor: How about you, the guy sitting next to the window? What’s your name?

            (The class slightly murmured because of Miguel).

Miguel: Me sir? (Slightly surprised)

Instruction: Yes Mr.

Miguel: Sorry sir,

Instructor: It’s ok, Introduce yourself , tell something about yourself in front.

(Anna Listens carefully when Miguel speaks)

Miguel: I’m Miguel Zapanta, 16 years old, you can call me to my first name as it

is much easy to pronounce. I often play computer games such as World of Warcraft and the likes and I read a lot regarding to how the computer works and I’m also fond of reading books about programming. I am playing music along with my band. My music concentrates between emotional rock and post hardcore. My most favorite band is Dashboard Confessional who sang the song “Vindicated” and “Hands Down”.

Instructor: Thank you very much Mr. Zapanta, a seemingly talented young man. Anyways, because it’s already end of our period for today, I’m sorry for being late on our first meeting. I’m going to give you a set of stuff to research for. This is going to be passed on the next meeting. Please research for all about communication arts. Ok class, see you, Goodbye,

The next scene would be “Anna Walks along with her friends.”

           

            After class, Anna asked her friends to hang out first before going home. And her friends didn’t say no to her. While walking, Anna still thinks about Miguel, it seems like she was mesmerized by the way Miguel do his stuff, briefly speaking, Miguel looks so cute for her. One of her friends saw that she looks like wool-gathering so she taps on his shoulder and asked her…

            Friend: Hey Anna, Why are you so absentminded right now, you are still enthusiastic a while ago then right now you turned as like that. Why? What’s wrong?

            Anna: Oh, there’s nothing wrong, I’m just thinking of someone that took my breathe away.

            Friends: then who is that lucky guy?

            Anna: do I really need to tell you guys?

            Friends: Of course, we are your friends, girl; we just want to know about him.

            Anna: I’m going to tell you that but not right now, I feel so shy.

Anna and her friends, after a quite long walking, they’ve decided to find where to eat. Suddenly, Anna saw a Shomai stand near from where they were standing so they prefer to settle down there for a while to eat.

Anna and friends are buying shomai… Anna got the first serve.

Anna: Oh, I miss this food. This is so delicious.  Hmmm…

Friend: (buying some more siomai for them.

From not so far place from Anna’s group, there is Miguel and his new friends.

Pao: So where are we going guys? I’m already tired and hungry hehe. Let’s eat

Miguel: Wait a minute, I’m still looking for that book. I want to see it

right now because I’ve been dying to have it.

            Pao: What is that book about man? (mild sarcastic asking)

            Miguel: That book is about Java programming, the programming language that

we are about to use for this semester.

            Pao: Language? I only know English language!!! (Laughing out Loud)

            Miguel: (laughing)

            Pao: Hahahahaha Just kidding man… I still have no idea about that programming

language. The only idea that runs in my head right now is that my stomach is already scolding me that he has to eat now… Do you want to listen to what he says? Haha

            Miguel: haha No need dude, I can already feel too… haha

            Friend: Where are we going to eat guys. Guys, do you want Shawarma

Miguel: yeah yeah yeah, It’s been a long time since I last ate shawarma

friends.   Hehe

Just beside the Shawarma stand is the Shomai stand where Anna and her

friends eating. While they buying some, Miguel is at the back, he is the last one to get his own, Something strange happened…

            Anna fell down from her chair. Luckily Miguel was just behind her, so he caught her when she fell.

            He held her for a few seconds and they gazed to each other eyes (Anna Blushes) until…

            Anna: Oh, Oh my gosh!!! I feel so embarrassed…

            Miguel: No, no, it’s ok. Next time be careful huh?

            Anna: Oh, Thanks a lot. You’re my savior.

            Miguel: Anyways I’m Miguel.

            Anna: Oh, I’m Anna.

            Miguel: You look so familiar. Have we ever met?

            Anna: hmmm, I’m your classmate. These are my friends, Sally and Barbie. They

are also our classmates.

Sally stared to Miguel’s face, while Miguel is taking, like she already has a crush on him.

            Miguel: oh,, Is that so?, Well, I would also want to introduced you to my friends,

they are our classmates too.

            Anna: Oh really? What a co-incidence.

            Miguel: This is Pao and this is Henry.

                       

Pao gazed to Anna’s face for a brief moment but no one saw it.

Pao felt something towards her at the first glimpse but pao decided to keep it as his secret.          

As the conversation goes…

            Anna: Why don’t we hang out together? Let’s booze,

            Pao: Yeah, I like it.

            Henry: Yeah.

            Sally: Yeah I like it too.

Barbie: yeah let’s go.

            Miguel: Oh wait, I’m not boozing.

            Anna: Please don’t kill the fire miggy… This is only once one in a while….

Please….

            Henry: Don’t be so KJ man. Right pao?

            Pao: the Girls are inviting us? Aren’t we going to say yes? Come on!

            Henry: Don’t act like faggot!!! (said like joking)

            Miguel: yeah!!! Yeah!!! Yeah!!! You won, I’m the loser so I’m going to go with

you. Hehe

            Pao: yeah man... That’s what I like about you. Haha

            Henry: yeah!!!

            Miguel: So where are we going?

            Pao: We can go to my house but my mom is there.

            Henry: As well as in my house… haha

            Anna: haha… It’s not a problem guys.

            Group: oh really?

            Anna: yes, We can do anything in my place. My parents are always not around, they are both always busy. Hmmm.. Anyways, shall we go now? Let’s go.

The group went to Anna’s house… They bought a lot of liquors before they get there…

=Next scene=

In Anna’s place…

            Anna: Welcome to my reservoir!!! Am I not a human being for my house to be

Reservoir? Haha, Just kidding… Anyways guys, don’t be shy, just don’t touch the bases coz they are quite expensive. (laugh a bit)

            Group:(laugh low)

            Pao: You got a cool place huh…

Miguel: Yeah man, you’re right… This place is very much conducive for

everything you want to do. Hehe

            Anna: What do you want to do Miggy?

            Miguel: oh,, hehe… I mean, this is just conducive for my hobbies…

            Anna: like what?

Miguel: hmm, Like reading, watching educational movies and rock band concerts

while alone. Also if I’m composing and writing songs. I can shout my song with all my heart with out disturbing anyone because this place is quite away from the road. Hehe(Miguel whispered) – “Oh my, what the hell am I saying.. kinda out of the track..”

            Pao accidentally heard what Miguel secretly whispered.

           

            Pao: hehe, It’s good that you know. Hehe

            Miguel: What?

            Pao: that you say a bit nerdy things, you’re saying way off stuff… hehe

            Anna: (Laughed)It’s ok guys,,, Remember, we are here to enjoy. But make sure if

you are about to say a joke, make sure it will going to make us laugh ok,

otherwise just shut up! Hahahaha that’s a kid…

            Henry: The table is now open for the first shot taker!!! Hahahahaha

            Pao: hahahaha real funny man…

            Henry: who want’s to go first?

            Pao: I’m a gentleman so I would abide our saying; Ladies First!!! Hahaaha

            Barbie: But we say: Age first before beauty!!!! Hahahahaha

            Anna: why don’t we settle for one major dicision guys. Lets give the first shot to

the one who said that he doesn’t booze.!!(kidding)

Group:YEAH!!! Hahahaha hoooohh…. No need to be mentioned… hahaha Go

Miggy!!!

            Miguel: oh,, Why me? Haha

            Anna: Because it’s you!!! Hahahaha come on miggy, you can do it…..

            Miguel: I can’t!!!

            Anna: ofcourse you can!!! I’ll assist you!!!

            Group: ohhhhh!!!

            Barbie: How do you called this sis?  Do you just want to help him or something?

            Henry: Is there already something?

            Anna: ohhh,,, guys there’s nothing!!! Hahahaha

            Miguel: hahaha,,, ok ok,,, I’m doing it. Just make sure you will catch my puke ok?

Hahaha

            Anna: Iwwwww!!! Haha(smiling)

           

            While Miguel is taking the first shot, They are cheering him!!!!

            “Go Miggy!!!!”

            Anna: know what? You are the craziest man I’ve ever met..

            Miguel: why?

            Anna: come to think of it!!! It’s already year 2010 and there’s still such guy like

you who don’t drink, ooops,,, you just drank one a while ago so you are now excluded to those guys hahahaha

Miguel: Yeah! You’re right…. Ahhh, what a taste! Can I drink some more?

Hahahaha

            Pao: yeah! That’s what I’m talking about!!! Hahaha The transformation of a

Nerdy to punky!!! Hahahaha

            Miguel: hahaha,,, I like your wordings man! Hehehe

           

Anna Play music…..

            Pao: come on let’s party!!! Hahahahahaha

            Group: yeah!!!!!

Haha

            They are not minding the time until they dropped. All of them dozed except Miguel and Anna.

           

            Anna: Are you not sleeping miggy? Did you already called you parents that you

are not going home tonight?

            Miguel: oh.. they are not at home rigt now so I’m free.. hehehe

            Anna: hehe… how about your friends? Hehehe…

            Miguel: Don’t mind them…. They already texted their parents.

            Anna: ah ok,,,

            Miguel: how about your friends?

            Anna: don’t worry!!! Only their maids are in their house right now,,, haha

            Miguel: Ok,,,

The conversation faded off and their attention goes to the dark and clear sky…

=Silent part=

           

            Anna: Miggy, May I sit beside you?

            Miguel: oh sure why not.

            Anna:(Sitting down) Thanks…

            Miguel: it’s ok don’t mention it, hehe

Anna: You know what Miggy? I found you so much mysterious… Ever since I

saw you.

            Miguel: hehe

            Anna: Why are you laughing?

            Miguel: coz there’s already a lot of you told me that.. hehehe

            Anna: really?

            Miguel: yes!

            Anna: but I can’t help to stare to you whenever I see you in school.

            Miguel: Oh,,, why?

            Anna: Nothing,,, I didn’t mean anything. Never mind.

            Miguel: hehehe what ever…

            Anna: Why are you so studious?

            Miguel: No, I’m not studious, I just love to read a lot…

Anna: Me? Ever since… I never liked to read books, it’s kind of way off

of my passion statement!!! Haha

            Miguel: Passion statement? Hehehe

            Anna: it’s a joke.. hehe

           

            They are enjoying each other’s company through the night… Until their conversation gone deeper and deeper.

            Miguel: May I ask you something?

            Anna: of course… What is it?

            Miguel: Ahmm,, Do you have a boyfriend?

            Anna: None at all. Since Birth. Hehe

            Miguel: Oh really? I thought you have so many… hahaha just kidding

            Anna: hehe, I got plenty of suitors but I don’t want all of them.

            Miguel: then who do you want?

            Anna: YOU!!!

           

            Miguel was shucked for what he heard. They paused for a few seconds because of what Anna said.

            Miguel: Oh my! I didn’t expect it.

            Anna:  (blushing)

            Miguel: oh I, I, I,…. Can’t believe it….

            Anna: (Not saying anything) Looking to the eyes of Miguel with a shame face.

           

            The sweetnight is over for the two of them.

            Next scene will be in School…

            =In the classroom=

            Programming class…

            Early in the morning of a Saturday, Miguel was already in school waiting until the clock strikes at 7. While waiting, he sits infront of the classroom reading his Java Programming reference book while the other two was seriously studying

           

            As 7am is getting near… his classmates are arriving.. Until Barbie and sally arrived.

            Miguel: where is Anna?

            Sally: oh, She texted me a while ago, She’s coming.

            Barbie: Miguel, Do you have any Idea about what are we going to discuss today?

Miguel: as far as I can Recall, our instructor told us that we are going to

tackle the introduction to Java programming language.

            Sally: oh, do you already know how to make a program with Java?

            Barbie: I think it is going to be hard for us because we don’t have any ideas yet.

            Miguel: Well, it’s not that hard. You can do it.

            Sally: it’s easy for you, for us it’s a big otherwise. Hehehe

            Miguel: hehe oh Anna is here.

            Sally: Good morning friend.

            Anna: Am I already late?

            Barbie: No, you’re just in time.

            Anna: Thanks God…

            Sally:  Sis, Do you have any idea about Java?

            Anna: is that the yellow rice?

            Sally: huh?

            Anna: The yellow rice!!! Hello!!!

            Barbie: haha it’s not that!!! Hahaha It’s actually the programming language that we are going to use. Hahahahahaha

            Anna: oh,,, hahaha,,, Sorry…. Hehe

            Sally: I think it’s not going to be hard because Miguel is going to Help us!

            Miguel: hehehe

            Anna: oh miggy, how are you?

            Miguel: I’m a lot fine right now coz I see you.

            Sally: ehem… hehehe

            Barbie: what is going on huh?! Hehe

            Anna: nothing friends!!!

            Barbie: owz? Haha

            The instructor arrived and the class begun.

Mr. Baldi: Ok class, Good morning. We are about to discuss the introduction for

Java. But before anything else, I would like to know if you already do have knowledge regarding this programming language? Anyone?

           

            No one is answering

           

Barbie: Sir, the guy over here already knows a lot about that.

Miguel: (covering his face)

Mr. Baldi: Who?

Barbie: it’s Mr. Zapanta sir…

Mr Baldi: Mr. Zapanta where are you?

Miguel: sir! (Raised hand)

Mr. Baldi: Ok, Aside from him, who else?... No more? Ok, that tells me to discuss

from the very start… hehe

            So the discussion goes….

            The next scene would be after class…

            =Lunch time=

            Pao: So where are you going to eat guys?

            Sally: Wait, We’re on a diet. Haha

            Barbie: Hey, What are you saying sis?! I’m not on a diet, In fact I’m already

hungry!

            Sally: haha, I was just kidding!

            (Everyone laughed because of the two.)

            Barbie: Anna, where are we eating?

            Anna: I will be eating if Miggy will join me. Hehehe I was just kidding.

            (Pao felt a little bit jealous)

            Barbie: Yeah girl, That’s very obvious joke. Hehe… I guest Miggy won’t get it.

            Sally: Ye you’re right! Hehe

            (Miguel is busy reading his notes when they talk about this)

            Miguel: So where are you eating? (Got no idea about what the girls talked about)

            Sally: Ask Anna.

            Miguel: Anna, where do you plan to take your lunch?

            Anna: hmmm, let’s just go to the canteen… hehehe

            Miguel: ok, let’s go.

           

            They walked to the canteen.

           

            Anna got their orders and proceeds to the counter.

            Sally follows…

            Anna: This is our order.(she said this to the seller)

            Seller: Ok, Please wait for this to be prepared.

            While the seller prepare their meals…

            Sally: Anna, can I ask you something?

            Anna: sure, what about?

            Sally: Are you just kidding when you tell those things about Miguel?

            Anna: why?

            Sally: Nothing, I was just asking.

            Anna: Well, What should I say, It’s quite obvious that I got a crush on him.

            (Sally gets quiet when she hear this lines)

           

            Seller: Here is your order. Thanks.

            Anna: oh, thanks a lot. Sally, please call the boys to carry the tray.

            Sally: Gentlemen, please carry the tray please.

            While eating…

           

            Pao: hahaha,,, my rice is like mount Everest! Haha

            Henry: Haha… mine is only like an unknown mountain. Hehe

            Sally: Hmmm… I’m going to eat a bunch and I’ll exercise afterwards!!!

            Miguel: what? you will just forsaken your tummy!

            Sally: Miguel, it’s a joke! Learn to recognize what’s a joke and what is not.

            Miguel: ok, I’m sorry…

            (Miguel felt quite embarrassed)

            Pao: O, O, before the white turned to red, let’s just mind our food,,, it’s getting

cold you know.

            Henry: You’re right man.

           

            They eat quietly because of what Sally said. Silence gets into the midst of them until they finished eating

           

            After eating Anna walked with Miguel….

           

            Anna: Miggy, Ahhhmm, sorry for what Sally said a while ago huh.

            Miguel: It’s ok, She was actually right, I must learn to recognize what is joke and

what is not.

            Anna: It’s good to hear that you were not offended to what she said. Anyways,

                        May I ask you a little favor?

            Miguel: Sure, what is that?

            Anna: About Java.

            Miguel: What about Java?

            Anna: Can you give some time to teach me that?

            Miguel: oh, No problem!!! When shall I start teaching you?

            Anna: tomorrow?

            Miguel: Ok, I will bring my laptop tomorrow.

            Anna: Ok ok!!! Tomorrow after class.

            Miguel: Copy!!! See you tomorrow…

           

            Next scene would be “After class”

           

            Sally: oh, Another day of classes has been ended. Haiz, I’m going home. How

about you guys?

            Barbie: I don’t know where to go right now, maybe I’ll just go home. How about you Anna?

            Anna: I’m staying here with Maiggy, He will teach me about Java.

            Barbie: Hmmmm! Whatever!(teasing Anna)

            Anna:  Think about anything you want, we are just going to study.

            (Sally don’t show that it hurts when Anna is with miggy)

            Sally: Anyways guys I’m going home. Bye see you tomorrow.

            Anna: ok sis, bye, take care.

           

            While Sally is walking away, Miguel has just done copying the lectures on the

Board so he went out of the classroom.

           

            Barbie: Oh, your boyfriend is here… hehehe It’s a joke!

            Anna: Whatever! Hehe

            Miguel: Anna, Shall we start?

            Anna: As you say it! Where can we study?

            Miguel: Ok, let’s just go to the Library.

            Anna: Ok,

            Most of the time, they do this. They are enjoying what they do and everything seems to be ok for them when they are together. All of these sweet circumstances begot a young love between this young people. Although they are not telling each other how they feel towards each other, It’s their actions that tells what the real score really is between them.

            There come a time that Miguel already decided to propose courtship to Anna..

            Anna is with her friends…

            They are talking about facebook, about what they do on it.

           

            Barbie: Hey Sally, How often do you open your facebook account?

            Sally: I just open it thrice a week because I’m no more enjoying using it. Unlike

when I still have the gusto to chat with anyone and play Farmville and restaurant city.

            Barbie: ahuh. How about you Anna?

            Sally: I’m always online sis. I often change my primary photo there and chat with

my friends there. I’m actually a facebook addict.

           

            Miguel entered the scene

Miguel: Excuse me, May I interrupt your discussion, Anna, May speak with you

alone? I mean just the two of us?

            Anna: Oh, …  ok, what are you going to say?

            Miguel: (took a deep breath) Anna, I don’t know what it takes to tell you this, but

I’m willing to take the risks. I mean, I know telling this to you might hurt

Take a damage to my heart but I’m willing to sacrifice just to make you know that….

Anna: That?

Miguel: That…

Anna: that?

Miguel: That….

Anna: Miggy! What is it!

Miguel: Anna, I’m in love with you. I didn’t force this thing to happen. I just felt it.

Anna: (Blushing)(at the back of her mind: “If you only know that you are my crush!”)

Miguel: Anna, Please say something… (Nervous)

Anna: What shall I say…(Blushing)

Miguel: What can you say about… May I hold your hand? May I court you?(Still nevous)

Anna: (still blushing with shame face) ahhhhhhm, yes.

Miguel: Yeah!(overjoyed)

Anna: (Blushing + happy)

Their friends saw the to of them talking and they were wondering if what they are doing.

Pao: Hi, Where’s Miggy?

Sally: She is with Anna.(Answered frown)

Pao: where?(also became frown)

Sally: There they are.(Frown)

Henry: What the heck is Miguel doing?

Barbie: I think there is something…. (Blushing)

Henry: Yeah, I think so.

The two gets to their friends...

Barbie: So what is that smile about?

Anna: Oh, Nothing sis, Let’s go to the library.

Barbie: Let’s go

Anna: Bye miggy.

Miguel: Ok, Take care.

The boys were left there. They asked Miguel about the earlier stuff…

Pao: What was that Dude?

Miguel: I just asked her if I can court her.

Pao: (sad but smiling)then what did she say?

Henry: yeah, what did she say?

Miguel: She just said “yes you can”

Henry: oh, congratulations and good luck for that man.
